Random June Fun - 2013

June, June, June ...
June is over, now it is July and we are floored!
In a few months, we will have been in Grants Pass for 1, yes ONE year!
It has gone SO fast, but we both agree that it was the best decision that we could have made!!

Anyway, back to June!
On top of our wonderful day at the beach and our birthdays,
we managed to fit in a whole bunch of stuff :)

Rascal & I enjoyed some episodes of 'Cake Boss' and I jammed to the 80's at work!!

RASPBERRIES!! RASPBERRIES!! RASPBERRIES!!

Our beautiful nieces graced our presence ALL month long!!
We love these beauties SO much!!

Nate got creative with his camera phone and a paper towel roll!!

I sat through a CPR Class at the Club and became officially CPR Certified!

1 (8)

I successfully prepped and handled my FIRST of many Board Meetings!!

Nate dropped a pallet on his toe at work and it has turned this beautiful shade of purple ...
it kind of looks like a seashell!! ;)

I spent a Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market and got these super yummy smelling Sweet Peas!

This is my new friend, Gwen! She helped me out with a photo shoot
and then we went to dinner at Circle J! It was a lovely evening!

PEAS!! PEAS!! PEAS!!

It has been SO HOT here! We've gotten into triple digits a couple of times
and when it's not in the triple digits, it's in the high 80's or 90's ...
we had a few days of rain in June that we soaked up happily!!

1 (16)

We both had a visit to our new Dr.'s office to get our stats checked for Nate's insurance!

1 (17)

We bought some clippers and I had my first (recent) attempt at cutting Nate's hair.
Last time we tried it, (YEARS AGO), we ended up shaving his head ...

1 (18) 1 (19)

Ha ha! This is for my sister Jen and our friend Britt, who are both hairdressers ;)

1 (20)

Taa Daa! Not bad! There's definitely room for improvement, but it could have been worse!!

And of course, this kitty! She's still hanging in there,
being her cute, furry little self!!

The end! What did YOU do in June?

July 10, 2013

... Happy Birthday to US!! ...

How did the 10th of July get here SO quickly?
I've been meaning to play blog catch up since I posted about the trip to the beach,
but life has sped on by!!

So, without further adieu, here are pictures from our birthdays this last month!!
We turned the big 33 (wow, really? where did the time go?)!

Our big celebration was our beach trip, but we got some other pics to share!!

For MY birthday, Nate won the BEST husband of the universe award!
He had (MY FAVORITE) Einsteins Bagels shipped in from Logan!
I was in a shocked stupor and couldn't have asked for a better birthday present,
or a better husband - he definitely rocked this birthday!!

After we got back from the beach, we got showered and had a late dinner
at one of my favorite Grants Pass places, Tap Rock.

Nate's birthday was pretty low key - I had to work, but he had the
WHOLE day off and he relaxed happily while I made some money ;)
For his special birthday dinner, we tried out a new restaurant in town, Roux 26.

It was SUPER yummy and we will definitely be going back!!

One of the highlights of BOTH of our birthdays was getting these silly cards from Nate's parents -
watch the videos - I promise they'll make you giggle!!

(Sorry this one's sideways!)

We BOTH had really great days and we LOVED spending them together!!

Harris Beach

Awww ... the beach ...
What a wonderful, wonderful place it is!

Last Friday we jumped in the car and drove for two hours
to Harris Beach in Brookings, Oregon!
Our drive took us on the edge of the Redwoods which were absolutely gorgeous
and through many other BEAUTIFUL parts of Oregon!

We took A TON of pictures, so of course, we're eager to share them with you!! :)

1st Stop:  Taylor's Sausage Country Store

I have been told by MANY people at the club that Taylor's Sausage is a must visit
whenever a drive to Cave Junction is needed! We took at advice
to heart and made the stop on our way to Brookings!!
It was just what you'd expect - a store FULL of meat. I had to ignore the smell,
but Nate was pretty happy to wander around a choose a treat for our day at the beach!

We hopped back in the car and made our way through the very windy, narrow canyon
to the coast! Our drive took us through the edge of the Redwoods,
and we were absolutely amazed (pics of that to come later) at the size of the trees -
it was an absolutely beautiful drive!!

Once we hit Highway 101 we had a pretty good view of the Ocean -
we rolled down the windows and had smiles glued to our faces as we
made our way to Harris Beach!! Here was our first glimpse of the beach:

We were SO GIDDY to have finally made it to the beach!!

Our first order of business was to walk along the beach -
we took the camera with us and spent a few hours exploring and photographing -
it was absolutely perfect!!

After our stroll along the beach, we unloaded our very heavy cooler
(we definitely overshopped for this trip - but we were never hungry at the beach ;)
and settled in for an afternoon of enjoying the beach!!

This next picture is our best attempt at capturing the massive waves
that were breaking against this rock! In real time, the waves were
gigantic on both sides, but they were so quick that we used up a lot of
battery and memory card space trying to capture them!! :)

Eventually the sun started to move to the West and it reflected
off of the ocean so beautifully!!

After several WONDERFUL hours of laying on the beach, watching
the waves, chatting, resting our eyes and snacking,
we reluctantly decided that it was time to pack up and make our way home ...
driving AWAY from the ocean is definitely something
that I DO NOT enjoy doing!! :) We stopped at a couple lookout points ...

Another place that we were told to see was the Brookings Harbor!
We pulled over and jumped out for a few minutes to walk along the boardwalk -
it was definitely gorgeous!!

53

We wanted to head back while it was still light so that we could
get a few pictures of the Redwoods that were along the side of the road ...
I'll warn you right now that these pictures just don't do it justice!
If you want to really see them - you'd better come and visit!!

As you can see - there was much gorgeousness to take in
throughout the whole day! It really was a perfect day at the beach
and we can't wait to get back over to the Coast!!
